Free prompt grader

Score my prompt: a free prompt grader that shows what to fix.

Paste a prompt you plan to send to ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. Instead of a number, the free prompt grader shows what the task needs that your prompt leaves out, with a one-line tip for each. Free, no account, 30 checks a day.

What is missing

Paste a prompt on the left and press Grade. You see what kind of task it is, which of 4 parts the task needs, and which of those your prompt already gives.

How the check works

What the prompt grader looks for

The grader first works out what kind of task your prompt asks for. Then it checks 4 parts: does the task need this part, and does your prompt give it? A part is marked missing only when the task needs it and your prompt does not give it. For a request to fix a regex, the check judges that the task does not need an audience, so it does not flag one.

Who it's for

Will other people read the answer, and does the prompt say who they are? A cold email to a busy buyer reads differently from one to a friend.

Format and length

Will you paste the answer somewhere with a shape or size, such as a slide, an email or a chat message, and does the prompt say what that is?

Your details

Does a good answer depend on facts only you know, such as your product, your data or your code, and does the prompt include them?

What a good result looks like

Does the answer need to achieve something, such as getting readers to book a demo, and does the prompt say what?

Chrome extension

Fix your prompt inside ChatGPT, before you send it

The PromptMagicPro extension sits in the message box of ChatGPT and Claude. Click it, or press Alt+E (Cmd+Shift+E on a Mac), and your rough prompt is rewritten in place, ready to send. On Gemini you get the improved prompt with a Copy button.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is the prompt grader free?

Yes. The check is free with no signup, up to 30 checks a day. Fix it for me uses free tries: 3 every 30 days without an account, or 25 a month with a free account. Pro costs $12 a month or $99 a year.

How do I score my prompt?

Paste the prompt into the box and press Grade my prompt. Instead of a number you get the kind of task it is, and for each of 4 parts (who it's for, format and length, your details, and what a good result looks like) whether it is missing, worth adding, covered, or not needed for that task. Each missing part comes with a one-line tip.

Is my prompt stored or shared?

To run the check, your prompt is sent to our server and to Jev, TypeSafe's model, through OpenRouter. We don't store it. OpenRouter and TypeSafe process your prompt to run the check, under their own terms.

Why does my short prompt show so much missing?

A one-line request rarely says who the answer is for, what shape it should take or how long it should be. The AI has to guess those, so the check marks them as missing when the task needs them. Not every task needs all 4 parts: for a request to fix a regex, the check judges that the task does not need an audience, so it does not flag one.

Does a clean check guarantee a better answer?

No. The check sees whether your prompt states what the task needs. It cannot judge whether your facts are right or whether the task suits the model. Use it to find what is missing, then judge the answer yourself.

Does it work for Claude and Gemini prompts?

Yes. The check looks at the prompt itself, so it works the same for ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Copilot.
